What should operators pay attention to when using polyurethane sprayers?
Spray foam insulation is somewhat dangerous to people when it is being sprayed. Particles can get into the eyes, skin, or be inhaled through the mouth and nose if proper safety equipment and clothing are not worn. The chemicals can irritate the eyes and respiratory system and may cause skin irritation or rashes. It is recommended to wear the goggles, a respirator, gloves, long sleeves, and long pants when spraying foam insulation.
When shouldn’t you spray?
Don’t spray foam insulation in cold weather conditions if the foam is not held at the manufacturer’s specified temperature. It’s also important not to spray on a substrate that is too cold. Spraying on a cold substrate can result in poor foam adhesion (or no adhesion at all), which can cause the foam to peel away from the surface, resulting in wasted material.
Open cell foam should not be exposed to the weather and is designed for indoor use, while closed cell foam can be used indoors or outdoors and exposed to the weather.
